According to insiders, Mexico City authorities have requested information about an officer working at the local Public Security Ministry (SSC) for \u201cunusual activities.\u201d Sources with knowledge of the investigation said the agent was allegedly involved in the attacks against Mexico City police chief Omar Garc\u00eda Harfuch.<\/p>\n

This is just one of many lines of inquiry. Authorities didn\u2019t mention what types of \u201cunusual activities\u201d did the officer engage in or his identity.<\/p>\n

Moreover, local authorities identified six more suspects who were involved in the attack against Harfuch on June 26. Prosecutors are expected to request several arrest warrants in the upcoming days. <\/p>\n

So far, authorities had identified 19 suspects involved in the assassination attempt against the local police chief. The suspects remain in prison since July 8. <\/p>\n

On July 19, EL UNIVERSAL revealed that local prosecutors had new lines of inquiry regarding the attack against Omar Garc\u00eda Harfuch and that this would push them to request several arrest warrants.<\/p>\n

Moreover, authorities may request arrest warrants against local cartel members after the media reported the involvement of gunmen from La Anti-Uni\u00f3n Tepito in the armed attack.<\/p>\n

This is just one of many lines of inquiry. Authorities didn\u2019t mention what types of \u201cunusual activities\u201d did the officer engage in or his identity. Moreover, local authorities identified six more suspects who were involved in the attack against Harfuch on June 26. Prosecutors are expected to request several arrest warrants in the upcoming days.  So far, authorities had identified 19 suspects involved in the assassination attempt against the local police chief. The suspects remain in prison since July 8.  On July 19, EL UNIVERSAL revealed that local prosecutors had new lines of inquiry regarding the attack against Omar Garc\u00eda Harfuch and that this would push them to request several arrest warrants. Moreover, authorities may request arrest warrants against local cartel members after the media reported the involvement of gunmen from La Anti-Uni\u00f3n Tepito in the armed attack. According to the local Attorney General\u2019s Office, the La Anti-Uni\u00f3n Tepito Cartel participated in the attack. Omar Garc\u00eda Harfuch has since returned to work. During a press conference held on Tuesday, Garc\u00eda Harfuch said that the government is working to strengthen the police\u2019s Internal Affairs Department and is closely following the process to fire corrupt police officers.  As part of the investigation, Omar Garc\u00eda Harfuch said he knew a criminal organization would launch an attack against him since August 2019. The CJNG tried to kill Harfuch On June 29, EL UNIVERSAL reported that the deadly Jalisco Nueva Generaci\u00f3n Cartel collaborated with several Mexico City-based criminal organizations to launch the attacked against Omar Garc\u00eda Harfuch, the city\u2019s police chief.  Investigations indicated the CJNG members planned to set Garc\u00eda Harfuch\u2019s vehicle on fire.  The investigation suggested the CJNG deployed members of La Uni\u00f3n Tepito, the Tl\u00e1huac Cartel, and a recently created criminal group called ACME. Moreover, ACME provided vehicles, warehouses, and homes for the gunmen to stay before the attack.  The investigation launched by Mexico City authorities indicated that Julio C\u00e9sar Montero Pinz\u00f3n, aka \u201cEl Tarjetas,\u201dordered the attack and that the bloody drug cartel spend millions in vehicles, weapons, and gunmen. \u201cEl Tarjetas\u201d is close to Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, \u201cEl Mencho,\u201d the leader of the Jalisco Nueva Generaci\u00f3n Cartel.  Sources close to the investigation told EL UNIVERSAL that Montero Pinz\u00f3n, a CJNG leader in Puerto Vallarta, sent Jos\u00e9 Armando, aka \u201cEl Vaca,\u201d to Mexico City to plan the attack against Harfuch.  The criminals purchased vehicles since June 9, as well as several weapons. According to local authorities, the 19 suspects arrested were ready to tell the same story to authorities to divert the investigation. They all claimed to be construction workers, artisans, and farmers.   The Mexico City-based organizations ACME operates in northern Mexico City. It is dedicated to theft in public transport, theft, and burglary. In February 2020, the criminal group started selling drugs in locations controlled by La Uni\u00f3n Tepito. The criminals were looking to expand their criminal activities with the help of the CJNG.  One of the trucks used in the attack against Harfuch was seen leaving a warehouse that belongs to ACME. Meanwhile, members of La Uni\u00f3n Tepito were in charge of monitoring Garc\u00eda Harfuch\u2019s activities.  The Tl\u00e1huac Cartel deployed their gunmen for the attack.
